Masculinity and its Pleasures
Abstract
The author discusses the evolution of conceptualizations of masculinity in psychoanalytic theory, between the monotheistic, phallic-narcissistic and seminal views, differentiating and interconnecting them. Secondly, the author reflects on the sociocultural and clinical expressions of contemporary masculine identity. Finally, specific aspects of the experience of pleasure associated with masculinity, its psychic organization and specific manifestations are explored in depth.
