Variações psicanalíticas sobre a solidão

Abstract

The article assumes that the feeling of loneliness has a great relevance in the subjective experience of individuals, constituting an important source of psychic suffering. Initially, it examines authors who suggest an increase in its prevalence in recent decades, whose causes would be social, political and economic. Although for a long-time loneliness has had little expression in the psychoanalytic literature, since the 1950s this tendency has changed, when it became a more frequent object of clinical and conceptual investigation. After briefly exploring some of this bibliography and considering the polysemy of the term, the article seeks to describe three prevalent forms of loneliness. Based on ideas by Klein, Ferenczi and Winnicott, it describes variants of this feeling that the author defines as, respectively, paranoid loneliness, traumatic loneliness and narcissistic loneliness. This development is accompanied by three clinical vignettes that try to illustrate them.
